The Integra Incident.
Based on the Star Trek Universe created by; Gene Roddenberry Steele, Arron--Command Cadet, Captain--Human Kiljian, DeArra--Comman Cadet, First officer--Half-Betazoid Kovall, Stephanie--Medical Cadet, CMO--Human Sandara, Jenifer--Engineering Cadet, Cheif Engineer--Human Evian, Jason--Cadet, Helm officer--Half-Bijorian Setek, Darian--Cadet, Tactical officer--Bijorian (Historical Notes: Year: 2288 one year after events taking place in Star Trek V. Bijorian is pronounced with the J being silient, these are not the same as the people from Bajor) Bridge of U.S.S. INTEGRA Steele: Captain's Log, Stardate 8161.3. U.S.S. Integra on training mission to Gamma Hydra section 4. Command Cadet Arron Steele reporting. Frankly, I am in shock that this ship even made it out of space dock. Captain Steele, that is, my father, tells me that this scout class just came out of a huge battle. Not all of the battle damage is repaired, but what the hell, it runs. (turning to helm) Status, Mr. Evian. Evian: On course for Gamma Hydra section 4, starbase 81, sir. Steele: Excellent. Mr. Sandara (turning to engineering station) you may run your diagnostic on the warp drive. Sandara: Aye, sir. Steele: Tell Dr. Kovall that I will be down shortly to conduct a medical inspection. Commander Kiljian, you have the con. (recives dirty look from DeArra) Kiljian: Aye, sir. (Steele leaves the bridge.) (Evian turns to Setek) Evian: What's the deal between DeArra and the Captain? Setek: Captain Steele got this command by one point on the C.F.R. test. Commander Kiljian believes it was because of the relationship between he and his father. Evian: Is our Captain able? Setek: So far, I've had no reason to believe otherwise. (scene change. Steele enters sickbay, Dr. Kovall rises to greet him.) Kovall: Why Captain, is this a socaial call? Steele: I'm afraid not, Doctor. It is my duty to inspect the ship before we reach Starbase 81. Kovall: (smiling) Yes, I know. The bridge told me you were coming. Steele: Good. Then shall we start with the... (comm beeps) Sandara: Captain Steele, this is the bridge. You better get up here, NOW! Steele: I'm on my way. (dashes out) (Scene change, back on bridge) Steele: Status! Sandara: We've detected a warp coil overload in coil number two. Steele: How long until overload? Sandara: Anytime... (all goes blank) (Bridge is desheveled, all crew members are unconcious) Steele: (waking up) Kiljian? Sandara? Setek? Setek: (rubbing his head) Aye sir. Steele: You okay? Setek: Nothing broken sir. Steele: Excellent. Comander Kiljian, are you okay? Kiljian: I'm alive and well, to your displeasure. (Steele shakes his head wearily) Steel: Commander Sandara, where the hell are we? Sandara: Scanning sir. Steele: Helm, as soon as we find out where we are plot a course to the nearest starbase. Evian: Aye, Captain. Steele: Commander Kiljian, you have the con. Darian, with me. As soon as you find out where in God's name we're at start diagnosiing our damage and begin repair. (touches com) Doctor Kovall, meet me in engineering. (Scene change, engineering. Steele and Setek enter, Kovall has already arrived.) Steele: Where are all the crew? Kovall: Disintegrated by the warp wave back lash. Steele: Damn! Darian, start looking over the system. See what we have. (touches com) Sandara, have you found our location? Sandara: Uh, yes sir. Steele: (Impatient) Well? Sandara: Sir, we're in Gamma Hydra section 12. Steele: (Astonished) We're in the middle of the Goddamn Klingon neutral zone! Sandara: yes sir. Steele: Have we been detected? Kiljian: Not yet Captain. Steele: What's our damage report? Sandara: Warp coil two is collapsed, our starboard phaser core is down, and our sheilds are non-functional. Steele: How long until we're spotted? Kiljian: Klingon defense reaction time is not exactly par. About three hours. Steele: How long to get here? Kiljian: The nearest Klingon vessel is one point three days away, at maximum warp. Steele: Then get busy on the bridge repairs. Lieutenant Setek will be working on the warp drive. Kilijian: Aye, sir. Steele: Very good, captain out. (scene change back on bridge some time later) Kiljian: Status Mr. Evian. Evian: Helm control restored. All connections between helm and Impulse drive are functioning. Kiljian: Very good. (turning to Jenifer) What's the status of the Impulse drive? Sandara: On line and functioning. Barely. Kiljian: (touching com) Bridge to Arron. Steele: Yes, COMMANDER? Kiljian: (Snarling) Sir, Impulse drive restored. Steele: Excellent! Best speed to starbase 81. Kiljian: Aye, CAPTAIN. Bridge out. (scene change, engineering) Kovall: She's got an attitude. Steele: Very much so, and I intend to speak to her about it right away. (touching com) Commander Kiljian, report to my quarters IMMEDIATLY. Commander Sandara, the con is yours. (Scene change Bridge, Deara leaves with an angry look on her face) Sandara: (leaning further into counsole) It's gonna hit the fan now. (Scene change Captain's quarters. DeArra enters and comes to attention.) Kiljian: Reporting as ordered. Steele: Commander, you did not observe proper protocal over the com earlier. Why? Kiljian: Permission to speak freely, SIR. Steele: GRANTED! Kiljian: I don't know who died and made you Fleet Admiral, but it wasn't me. I don't like your style. You're too easy going. You're much to laxed. Steele: (Interrupting) I happen to think that a ship's crew work better when the chain isn't cocking them to death. YOU are notorious for that. (DeArra is shocked) Yes, I have heard about your Kobyashi Maru test. How YOU blammed the entire bridge crew for not carrying out their duties when the fault was entirely yours. Kiljian: And I suppose your going to tell me that you beat the test. Steele: No. The Kobyashi Maru is a no win scenario. It's a test of character and you failed. That, in my opinion, incapacitates you as a captain. Kiljian: And what makes you think YOUR opinion counts? Steele: Because, COMMANDER. I'm the CAPTAIN. You better get used to that fact! And if you EVER show your bad attitude around my bridge, I'll have you removed and confined to quarters. Is that understood? Kiljian: (reluctantly) Aye, SIR. Steele: (pausing) DISMMISDED! (DeArra turns hard and storms out) (Scene change, sickbay) (Steele enters with a troubled look on his face.) Koval: Ah, Captain, what can I do for you? Steele: I just blew up at DeArra. Kovall: ...And? Steele: AND, I want to know, do you think I was wrong in doing so? Kovall: Listen, I've read her file. She's a spoiled Starfleet brat. Her father was a Cheif Petty Officer on board the ENTERPRISE. She ate, drank, slept and lived Starfleet all of her life. Steele: And I haven't? My father was a God damn Captain! Kovall: I know, but you must admit, she's had to work a helluva lot harder than you. Steele: My father was never involved in my training. Kovall: Not directly. Your father's name carries a lot of weight. He may not have directly made it easier on you, but having his name lightened the load considerably. Steele: I see your point. Kovall: You beat her by one point on the Command Fitness/Readdiness exam. As a result, you got command of the training voyage. The one thing she desperatly wanted. And by one point! It hurst to be so close only to have it snatched from you. Steele: I see. But was I wrong? Kovall: No. YOU are the Captain. If you can't keep disipline on your ship, then you don't belong in the center seat. Steele: I understand. Thank you, Steph. Kovall: Anytime, Arron. (Arron hugs her and kisses her cheek) Steele: IF anyone asks, I'll be in my quarters, sleeping. (scene change. Bridge, Kiljian entering) Kiljian: Status? Sandara: Impulse is totally on line. Repairs on the warp drive are going slow, however, because of prior battle damage. Evian: How did this ship get so torn up anyway? Kiljian: That's a good question. Jenifer, call up INTEGRA's log code. Sandara: Aye. (She turns to the computer) The code is 1713942-A. Kiljian: Scan to find anything about a recent battle. Sandara: Scanning. (pause) Here it is. Kiljian: Let me see. (She reads siliently with others beside her) Evian: So, that's how Uncle Rob died. Kiljian: Captain Tobias was your Uncle? Evian: Yes. My mother's brother. Sandara: But, aren't you Bijorian? Evian: Half. My father was human. Kiljian: Was? Evian: Yes. He died three of your years ago. He was 74. Kiljian: 74?! Evian: Yes. You must remember, Bijorians age three times slower than humans. Sandara: How old are you? Evian: In Bijorian years, 15. In human years30. Because of my split genes my age slowing process is cut in half. Kiljian: Darian is full Bijorian, so how old is he? Evian: Bijorian years: 21. He waited late in life to start his career. Kiljian: Late? Evian: Yes. Bijorians take five years to complete basic school training. We are through with school by age ten. We are expected to be self-sufficiant by age 15. He did not join Starfleet until age 17. He is looked down upon on my world as incapable of sustaining himself. Sandara: No wonder he's so quiet. Evian: (alarmed) Commander, you better look at this. (Sandara turns to her screen) Sandara: We've been found. Three Klingon D-7 cruisers closing on attack course. Kiljian: Damn! (turning to Jenifer) Get the Captain up here , NOW! (back to Evian) What's the bearing and distance on those D-7's? Evian: Bearing: three-one-zero. Range: five thousand Kilometers and closing. (Scene change Captain's quarters. Sandara rings the bell) Steele: (tiredly) Come. (Sandara rushes in) Sandara: Sir, you must come to the bridge. Steele: (waking swiftly) What's up? Sandara: Three Klingon D-7's just entered our sector. Steele: (startled) WHAT?! Why didn't you call me? Snadara: Intercoms are down sir. Steele: Damn! What's our status? Sandara: Red alert, sheilds coming up, weapons armed. Steele: What about warp drive? Sandara: Ten minutes minimum. Steele: Move your ass. Tell Darian to get up to the bridge as soon as possible. Snadara: Aye! (scene change, Steele enters the bridge pullin on his tunic) Steele: STATUS! Kiljian: No response to hails, Captain. They're still on attack course. Steele: Range? Evian: Three thousand, five hundred kilometers, and closing. Steele: How's our weapon's status? Kiljian: Sheilds at seventy-four perscent, phasers and photons on line. Steele: Is the com working? Evian: It just came back on line. Steele: (punching com) Sandara, where the hell's the warp drive? Sandara: Ten minutes. Steele: You said that five minutes ago. Sandara: Sorry, it's the best I can do. Steele: I'll give you eight. Steele out. Helm, start for the Federation neutralzone...no. Kiljian: NO!? Steele: No. Mr. Evian, plot an intercept course. Kiljian: WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!? Steele: You should know Commander. What's the standard three ship attack pattern for the Klingon fleet? Kiljian: Two front, one back...ahhh! Steele: Exactly! If we go for the center ship... Kiljian: It should be the lead. Steele:...Yes. The other ships will try to protect it. Kiljian: Crossfire? Steele: Exactly! Mr. Evian, execute! Evian: Aye! Steele: Commander, take engineering. Order Lieutenant Setek to man weapons. Kiljian: Aye...Captain. (Steele smiles, Darian enters) Steele: Man your station, lieutenant. Setek: Aye, sir. Steele: Lock phasers on target. Setek: Locked. Steele: Arm photon torpedoes. Setek: Armed. Steele: Prepare to open fire on my command. (punching com) Sandara! How's the warp drive? Sandara: Just a couple more minutes considering no further interuptions. Steele: HURRY! Mr. Setek, prepare to open fire when they reach firing range. Setek: Aye, sir. Kiljian: Two thousand Kilometers. Steele: Steady, accelerate to attack speed. Evian: Full Impulse power, At your command sir. Kiljian: They're arming torpedoes! Steele: Get ready... Kiljian: Eight hundred Kilometers! Firing range! Setek: They're locking phasers. Steele: Full Impulse power, Now! Prepare to fire! Setek: Weapons at your command. Kiljian: It's working! The two front runners are turning to get a lock! Steele: Darian, lock phasers on their engineering section. Setek: Locked. Steele: As soon as we clear the two front runners, fire. Helm, be read to execute a full power climb as soon as he fires. Evian: Aye. Kiljian: We're coming between them...NOW!! (Shock wave hits the ship) Steele: Did they fire? Kiljian: Both ships disabled each other. Steele: Excellent! Prepare to fire on the lead ship's engineering section! Setek: Ready. Steele: FIRE!!! Helm, full power climb! Evian: Full power climb, aye. (shock wave hits) Steele: What did we do? Kiljian: The phasers weakened their sheilds enough to get the photon through. I'm reading their Impulse drive is dammaged. Steele: Good shooting. (punching com) Eight minutes are up, Sandara. Where's the warp drive? Snadara: Ready when you are. Kiljian: make it quick! That Klingon cruiser is locking on us. Steele: Damn! GO JASON! Kiljian: TOO LATE. (Shock jars the bridge) Steele: Do we still have warp? Kiljian: Yes. Steele: Jason, GET US THE HELL OUTTA HERE! Evian: Aye, sir. Warp speed. (shortly later) Kiljian: We have cleared the Klingon neutral zone. Steele: Thank God. Get on the com to starfleet command. Inform them of our situation. Kiljian: Aye, sir. Steele: What dammage did that torpedo cause? (silence) Well? Sandara: They took out the medical complex. Steele: What about the doctor? Kiljian: (sadly) No response to calls. (Steele hangs his head) Sandara: I (pause) I'm sorry, sir. Steele: (whispers) I should have been able to protect her. Kiljian: (puts a hand on Arron's shoulder) There was nothing you could do. (A bright look comes to Jenifer's face) Sandara: SIR! A call from the engine room! It's the doctor!! Steele: On speaker! Kovall: Hello, Captain. I'm alive and well, but I'm afraid I've broken my leg. Could you possibly send some help? Steele: It's on the way, Steele out. (turning to DeArra) Go down and fetch up the doctor. Helm, plot course for Starbase 81. Evian: With pleasure sir. Steele: Warp factor three, go. (INTEGRA goes into warp) Steele: Captain's log. Stardate 8161.9 INTEGRA is on her way home, we'll reach Starbase 81 in two point one hours. It has been three days since our "encounter" with the Klingons. Doctor Kovall is recovering nicely in our makeshift sickbay. Now I wonder how I will react as a real Captain? I have confidence in myself, though. Dad, I mean, Captain Steele jumped down my throat for damaging a newly retired starship. When I explained though, he understood. I understand that when we deliver INTEGRA to Starbase 81 she's to be dismantled. I'm not saddened, though. INTEGRA's done her duty, and it's been an honor to serve on her. (fade to black)
